Indeed is a huge board. UCPeople is a small one. That is the honest difference, and it is the reason we exist. If you want to hire without buying clicks, here is how this board works.
Click-based job ads are a media product. You set a budget, compete for placement, and pay when someone clicks. That model built the largest boards in the world. It also means a hiring manager can spend a lot of money before a conversation starts, and a listing can sit in search results long after the role is filled.
We are not trying to replace that machine, and we will not pretend we have its audience. UCPeople is an Indeed alternative in the sense that you can post a job, get applications, and skip the CPC auction. We will not invent traffic numbers. We will tell you the price, the live window, and what candidates actually do on the page.
One job. One weekly price.
Right now a live listing is $10 a week per job. No packages. No recommended daily budget. No bidding against other employers for the same click. When the weekly price is above zero, checkout runs through Stripe for seven days on the board. Extend another week if the role is still open. Turn auto-renew on so it continues, or cancel and the listing comes down at the end of the week.
A flat weekly fee is easier to explain than a click auction. Finance sees $10 for seven days. Candidates see a job that is actually hiring this week. That is the whole product.
A smaller board, on purpose
You will see fewer jobs here than on a CPC giant. We are not hiding that. A board you can read in an afternoon is easier for candidates, and a seven-day clock means employers cannot leave a posting up from last winter. Every public role is admin-approved before it goes live. You write the job, pay the week if we are charging, and we review it. Approval is what starts the seven-day clock — not the moment you hit submit. Rejected jobs never hit the public board. That extra step is slower than instant self-serve ads. Easy Apply, no account required
Candidates can apply with a name, email, and PDF resume. No account. If they want, they can record a 45-second pitch. After they apply we offer an account so they can track it. Guest applications still land in your pipeline. The job of a board is to get a real person in front of a real hiring manager, not to force a signup wall first.
Employers with a live job can search people who opted in. You do not buy a separate resume database. Talent search unlocks while you are actually hiring. When the job expires, that is the deal: you are on the board because you are hiring this week.

UCPeople is being built in Washington, DC. We care about the DMV because that is home, and early hiring here will likely skew local. Remote roles and jobs in other cities are welcome. We are not a DC-only board, and we will not pretend every listing is inside the Beltway.
